Blockchain Vaccine Passport
A smart blockchain-based COVID-19 digital vaccine-passport concept for supervision, monitoring and trustworthy credential exchange.

A technology-based intervention
Millions of people received vaccines daily as part of the most extensive immunisation programme in history. An effective supervision and management system could strengthen public-health delivery during COVID-19.
The consultancy project explored how blockchain could reorientate information and credential management through a secure digital vaccine-passport model. Data integrity and immutability were used to protect records, strengthen identity assurance and build trust.
Smart contracts, AI and a traceable record
The high-level design proposed smart contracts as a tamper-resistant mechanism for corroborating individual vaccine passports, alongside artificial intelligence methods for analysing data and supporting enhanced programme management.
The aim was a traceable immunisation record that could enable faster disaster-management decisions and data transfer across multiple stakeholders. The concept also foregrounded the scientific and ethical implications of privacy for any national health-certification programme.
How the credential model connects
The architecture links the end user, an identity partner, an identity requester and validating node operators through peer-to-peer connections. The certificate is issued into encrypted storage, while proof of certification is represented on the blockchain.
Developed as a high-level consultancy design, the project maps the relationships, trust mechanisms and implementation pathway required for a scalable national health-certification service.
